Lee Covington is the President of the Reinsurance Association of America. Prior to joining the RAA, Mr. Covington was President and CEO of The Surety & Fidelity Association of America (SFAA), where he was a member of the International Surety Association Board of Directors. Before joining SFAA, he was Senior Vice President, Government Affairs and General Counsel of the Insured Retirement Institute. Mr. Covington has also served as co-leader for the National Insurance Practice at an AmLaw 100 global law firm, now known as Squire Patton Boggs in Washington, D.C. Previously, Mr. Covington was the Director of the Ohio Department of Insurance, where he was a member of the Executive Committee and chaired several committees at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Early in his career, he served as Insurance and Commerce Legislative Aide to Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and rose to become the Deputy Commissioner of the Arkansas Insurance Department. His focus on insurance regulatory law began with the national insurance practice at the Mitchell Williams Law Firm.
Mr. Covington holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law, serving as a member of the Arkansas Law Review, and a BSBA in Banking and Finance from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Covington serves on the Board of Directors of the Central Insurance Companies.
